Acts of TerrorThis week, we look back and reflect onto the horrific tragedy of Pearl Harbor. Not only do we take the time to give respect to those whose lives were lost that day, but those who subsequently lost their lives in battle during World War 2. On this special edition of SAMS Weekly we reflect on the many acts of terrorism in our world-Past and Currently. Pearl Harbor: The Attack on Pearl Harbor happened on December 7th, 1941. Japanese airplanes made a surprise attack on the US Navy in Pearl Harbor, Oahu. They destroyed many ships and killed many soldiers. It was this attack that forced the United States to enter World War II. 9/11 The September 11 attack from the Islam Terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States happened on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Two commercial aircrafts hit the Twin Towers in New York, and as well as multiple other attacks to important locations. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in damage. Additional people died of 9/11-related injuries such as cancer and respiratory diseases in the months and years following the attacks due to smoke, ash, and debris. After the attack there have been numerous memorable moments that continue to display that America is still standing together. Columbine-School Shooting At Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, two teens went on a devastating shooting spree on the morning of April 20, 1999. This horrific event took 13 peoples lives, and wounded more than 20 others. The event began as the two teens attempted to set a bomb in the cafeteria, but when it didn’t detonate they started to commence their killing at about 11:19 am via guns. This was one of the worst school shooting at that time. The school shooting began the discussion and push for stricter gun laws.
