A HUI HOU 8TH GRADE JOURNALISTS!A note from Ms. Rodriguez: One step into an 8th Grade classroom at SAMS, and you will be amazed by the diversity that is presented within this group of students. In room 31, you will laugh util you cry, get "chicken skin" at the ah-ha moments, and sigh at the sound of "what are we suppose to be doing" after repeating the instructions about 7 times.... all in all, he students have continued to produce amazing work. It has been a pleasure to work alongside the oldest students within the SAMS campus, and to see their creativity come alive. Just like any project, there were issues faced due to not meeting deadlines, but at the end of the day we had fun, and the students got the job done! I'm very proud to see these student work together, and use their talents and abilities to their full potential. Thank you 8th Grade Journalist! SAMS WEEKLY STAFf highlightsHi my name is Kaela K., im in 8th grade and my exploratory for 6 weeks was journalism. What I enjoyed the most about journalism was working with my friends and people I barely hang out with too. I will always remember the fun and funny times I had in this exploratory. It was always enjoyable to have time with my friends because I barely get to anymore. I honestly am gonna miss this exploratory because I had a lot of fun and it was interesting to learn about this exploratory and getting this experience to do hard work. My favorite job was spotlight because I got to interview my friends. Plus, it was an easy job to do and it was pretty fun too. My advice for the next group to come is always listen to Ms. Shea and always put an effort to try to have fun in the job you have. Even if your job is boring, just try and make it fun. SAS weekly means a lot to me because it shows all the hard work we all did in a week to make an entertaining newspaper for the week. I hope you guys enjoy it too and have fun. Journalism Entry: Hi my name is Riley A. and I had journalism for my exploratory. I had fun being apart of journalism because it was fun having a website that we put our work on. It made me feel good knowing that other people will be able to see our hard work that we put a lot of time into. What Did I enjoy? I enjoyed being able to have a website that looked good and professional that made our work look very good. I also liked how we had many different jobs that helped us bond as a class and be able to work with each other in a good way. Lastly I liked how I got to learn how to make a good journal and have our own school news site that showed what was going on every week in our school. What Will I remember? I will remember all of the fun moments I had during this class. Like when I got to make our bulletin board on how to eat healthy and how to maintain being healthy even with temptation at hand. Something else I will remember is all the jobs I got to do while I had this exploratory class. Those are some things I will remember about the journalism exploratory. Favorite Job? My favorite job was events. I liked this job because I got to decorate the bulletin board outside with ways how to stay healthy and maintain it to. What does SAMS Weekly mean to me? SAMS Weekly means our news for our school. This helps us see what happens in our school every week. SAMS Weekly is also very fun because we get to use a website as our weekly news instead of a paper. SAMS Weekly will also help remind me about what I did during that exploratory time and reminds me on how fun it was. My name is Elijah. I enjoyed today the most. I will remember having fun. My favorite job was photography. I really enjoy this. My advice to the next group is to behave well and respect the teacher, and always do your work. SAMS Weekly means a lot to me, and it really holds a place deep down in my heart. It means a lot to the school. Heyyy, Anjel here. Now you’re going to learn a bit about me. I am 13 years old and enjoy binge watching Netflix and listening to Hamilton. This exploratory I was in Ms. Shea’s journalism class, in the eighth grade. The thing I will always remember is almost getting hit by a rogue drone while I was in charge of photography that week . My favorite job was photography. Tina and I had fun getting fancy ground shots and almost getting hit in the head by a kite. My advice to the next group is to make sure not to hold things off until last minute. It’s not fun scrambling all over the place to turn in whatever you have. SAMS weekly is something that is very important to me. It helps to connect the student community. The bulletin board is also something nice to gaze at on your extra time. This is a unique exploratory because it involves the whole middle school. Ok, bye!! YO WADDUP ISH YA BOI. Anyway hai, my name is Tina and I am in the eighth grade. What I enjoyed most was having fun and working with my partner to finish our assignment. I will always remember all of the crazy weird things some of my friends did with the germ x to create colors for their bulletin board. My favorite jobs were comics and photography. If i had to choose one, I would pick photography because it was nice to see what the other exploratory's were doing. Comics was also my favorite because I enjoyed making the comic with my friend. It was fun brainstorming a way to make the comic funny and enjoyable, and in my opinion it turned out well. My advice for the next group is to make sure you pay attention and get your work in on time. I say this because we failed to do this a couple of times and we don't want that to happen again. Also, try to do the work and not have your partner do all of the work. Being on the other end of the stick at times, it isn’t nice.To me SAMS Weekly is an easy fun way to see what is going on in our school. You can see what the other exploratory are doing and what is going in the school and the students everyday life. I really enjoyed this exploratory because it was one of the more laid back classes, but it does take a lot of hard work and time. I hope you enjoy what our class put together for you these past weeks and continue reading. Peace and Rainbows-ya boiii. Hey, My name is Nya C. and i'm in the eighth grade and I've been on a trip most of the time journalism was going on, but for the two weeks I have been here i've had a lot of fun. My journalism classes was revolved around fall and I really enjoy the fall time. I've done one SAMS weekly news with my partner, Lizzie or “Noe”. For our last class in Journalism everyone in the class has been selected as SAMS weekly spotlight. What I enjoyed the most about this class was making arts and crafts for the little kids carnival. I think I will remember the first time and the last time I ever got to work on the news. My favorite job would have to be the only job I got to do is spotlight. I got to ask Mrs. Rodriguez a few questions about fall. My advice to the next group is too focus on your work not your friends. When you focus on your work you get it done faster. SAMS weekly is a thing where our school can connect and learn what's going around in different classes and in different grades. Hi! I’m Noelani K, and I am in the 8th grade. I have been at St.Anthony for 4 years. I enjoyed going out and interviewing people the most. I get to understand more about the people who attend my school.I enjoyed how I could relate to a lot of my peers that I didn't know before. I will definitely remember when we did the carnival. I really had fun doing the crafts for the little kids. My favorite job would have to be comic. I like comic because I love to draw. I had fun doodling and it was a nice laugh for people on our website. My advice for the next group would have to be to turn in all forms, or else we fall behind. SAMS weekly is a way to connect with our school and know even more about what's going on. Also the way we do things and all that good stuff. It is important to have an update for curious people who maybe want to enroll or see what we’re up to. My name is Ryder, and my time of this exploratory is coming to an end. I enjoyed this class a lot. The thing I enjoyed the most was probably working together with classmates. I think I’ll remember the most in this class is making the comics. My favorite job was probably working on the comics. Since I love to draw is was quite fun to draw the comics. I also loved getting an idea for the comics from other people. For the next group, I advise working hard. Some of the jobs can be quite difficult and and it might be hard to stay focused. Some of the jobs can be up to five or more paragraphs. SAMS was important to me because I think it's important to spread school news to others. Otherwise, I just love to help people figure out news. More 8th Grade staffHighlight not proved due to missing deadlines. Fun Fall CarnivalSAMS students planned, created, and hosted a fun fall Halloween carnival for our little brothers and sisters at the St. Anthony Grade School. We had a blast. A HUGE mahalo to Mrs. Claudine San Nicholas for capturing these images.

What are your big plans for Fall break?Report by Riley A. and Seth F. It’s almost Fall Break guys, which we start on Thursday October 6th. It’s almost time to say goodbye to school for a little while to take a little break to have fun and rest up. Something's coming up during Fall Break is The Maui County Fair which comes once a year and it’s jam packed with everyone on Maui... Are you going? If not, Fall Break is also a good time to rest and sleep in for 10 days of no school at all. Fall Break is also a good time to do things you can’t during school like playing sports and having fun with the friends the week without worrying about going to school the next day. Other things that you can also do is take a trip with your whole family and just see things that you’ve never seen before and discover things you have never seen up close with your own eyes. You can also go to your local pumpkin patch and give it a visit and just walk around it with your family to see all the amazing sights and cool pumpkins that are out there just a car drive away. You must remember that Fall Break only comes once a year so you should spend your days off of work or school wisely and don’t waste it on pointless things that you could do even when school was happening. Any break should always be spent wisely because it’s the only times you don’t have school and can stay home with your family all day. Fall Break is also a good time to spend with your family because sometimes you can barely see them during school days because they might work late and not be able to see you all the time. Although you are able to sleep in all day, it’s not a very good way to spend your days off because they’re so many things that you can discover just on Maui with just a drive with your family so you can have some bonding time with them and just relax and have a good time with your family and sometimes friends also. You must also remember to not be to lazy during Fall Break because it could affect your school work and start to make you lazy during school which is not a good thing because it’s important to stay healthy and active during school hours. Something’s that can be done that are being active can be like throwing ball at the park or just going to the park and play with friends and family. Other thing’s you can do are going to your school and help them out to get ready for the time when all the students start to come back from Fall Break. Helping your school is a good way of being healthy and active during the Break. Also you can do some community service so you can stay active and feel good that you helped someone out by cleaning their property or recycle to help your local fields stay green and not look like a bad dumpsite or an ugly field that no one will want to play on. Those are some ways you can stay active and healthy during Fall Break and make sure you’re not to lazy and are ready for the next time you have to come back to school and start learning again. During fall break we can go and play paintball with your friends and family it is a lot of fun but you have to be able to take pain and keep yourself up and not down. Paintball can be a lot of fun when you are against your friends. Sometimes it can hurt but you might need be ready to feel it because if you’re not ready then it will hurt a lot also. That is another thing you can do while on Fall Break if you’re bored and want to try something new. Paintball is very fun but just remember to be ready to get hit and don’t stop because it will hurt even more. The sport is also good as a workout that allows you to run and train yourself to not get shot a lot. Another thing you can do is play laser tag. Laser tag is like paintball but you just don’t feel pain because it doesn’t involve projectiles. Laser tag is also a fun thing to play with friends and family and it can also be very interesting thing to do while on Fall Break if you’re bored. Like paintball laser tag also involves running just not as much because it’s indoors and paintball can be outdoors which makes the playing field larger than an indoor field. That is another thing that you can do while on Fall Break if you’re bored and want to do some family or friend bonding that is fun. Those were some things you can do over Fall Break if you need to spend some time with friends or family, or if you’re just bored and want to play and make some new friends! Nadia enjoys Fall break because she doesn't have to work on homework and she can spend her time relaxing with her family. Her favorite thing about Fall break is that she can relax without worrying about homework. Nadia is not going to dress up for Halloween. She doesn't celebrate Halloween because it scares her. So instead, she likes to binge watch Netflix and eat candy. Nadia’s favorite Fall themed Starbucks drink is the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino. Nadia does not have any special plans for Fall break except for enjoying time for her family. Nadia’s favorite Halloween candy is sour patch kids. Her favorite classical monster is the Vampire because she likes Twilight. Nadia says she does not plan on carving pumpkins for Halloween this year.
